YOU ARE MORE THAN JUST A SPOKESPERSON








Its no news that you are one of the voices and faces of the Ogun State Community Social Orientation and Safety Corps(SO-SAFE). Remember, It's your face that is seen and your voice heard by the public on matters relating to the image of Ogun State So Safe Corps. Now that the training has come and gone, let's be reminded of some of the things expected of us.

1. Go beyond just being spokesperson but also a storyteller. Craft narratives and writeups that showcase the Corps' dedication, heroism and commitment to safety. 
You are not just a spokesperson; but also a storyteller.  Share stories of officers going beyond duty—rescuing lost children, apprehending criminals, and restoring peace, etc
2. Handle Crises: When things go haywire (like a security breach), you’re the calm voice. You. should share accurate information as directed by the authority, reassuring people that all is under control.
3. You’re not just a communicator; you’re a guardian of trust, a beacon of hope.

Equally also, you must have and develop the following skills personally-

1. Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills: These skills consist of -
* Ability to clearly convey thoughts, ideas, and messages through verbal and written communication.
* Strong writing skills for crafting engaging content, reports, and other materials.
* Effective interpersonal skills for building relationships, collaborating with teams, and interacting with diverse stakeholders.

2. Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills: You should possess the following-
* Capacity to think critically, analyze situations, and develop creative solutions.
* Ability to set goals, prioritize tasks, and make informed decisions.
* Strong problem-solving skills to address challenges, mitigate risks, and capitalize on opportunities.

3. Knowledge of Social Media platforms and trends: Social Media has become a normal trend in the society today and virtually everyone is on the various social media platforms so as a Public Relations officer, one is expected to 
* Have the Understanding of popular social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube).
* Be Familiar with social media management tools, analytics, and advertising options.
* Stay up-to-date with the latest social media trends, algorithm changes, and best practices.
4. Being able to handle the spread of wrong information is one of the major work of a Public Relations officer. Therefore, one should be familiar with crisis communication.
* Understandingcrisis communication strategies to address and mitigate negative situations also help to curtail the wide spread of rumors and wrong information.
NB: All these aforementioned skills above can be learnt and developed upon.
So, let's tweek our stories and writeups for the world to see the beautiful works of the Ogun State Community Social Orientation and Safety Corps through our eyes and our voices. Let's create aa great image of our organization.
